The Learning Center at Purchase College assists students in learning, developing academic skills, and attaining academic success.
Fall 2020 Updates
During the Fall 2020 semester, the Learning Center space in the Library will be closed to in-person appointments.
With the majority of classes being taught remotely and with limited staff, the Learning Center will be offering the following online and virtual tutoring beginning August 31:
ThinkingStorm is an online tutoring platform utilized by many colleges. It provides 24/7 access to professional tutors online for many subject areas.
For students to access these tutors, faculty must add a link to ThinkingStorm Tutoring Services in the Moodle for their course. It can be added easily under “Add an activity or resource”.
Please make sure to add this to your Moodle before the first week of classes. Faculty should check their email for directions.
There will be 10 Purchase College Peer Tutors available for virtual appointments to provide support for writing and other more specific Purchase subject areas, as well as time management.
Students will be able to sign up online for virtual tutoring. Additional information will be emailed when online appointments open.

In Class presentations
Ryan Homsey and the Advising Center staff will be available to lead class presentations on Time Management, Study Skills, and Note-taking Skills. Our Lead Peer tutor will be available for these presentations as well.
Senior Project Support
We are currently assessing additional support in this area. Additional updates for senior project support will be provided prior to the start of the semester.
