Professor Shaka McGlotten Named Data & Society Faculty Fellow

Congratulations to Professor Shaka McGlotten for their appointment as a Data & Society Faculty Fellow for 2020-2021.
2020欧洲杯苹果下载 Faculty Fellows pursue their own research as well as actively participate in collaborating with others in the institute and organizing events.
“I will be continuing (and hopefully concluding) the research and writing of my Black Data2020欧洲杯苹果下载 project, an interdisciplinary project about Blackness, art, and technology,” writes McGlotten.
They received the Andy Warhol | Creative Capital Foundation’s Arts Writers Grant for Black Data in 2017.
2020欧洲杯苹果下载 McGlotten says they’re excited and honored by the appointment. “I’ve spent a lot of time at Data & Society over the last two years, attending events, as well as working on initiatives tied to the decolonization of tech research. I feel like I’m officially joining my crew.”
McGlotten is professor of media studies and anthropology and chair of the Gender Studies and Global Black Studies programs. Their work stages encounters between Black study, queer theory, media, and art. Their research focuses on networked intimacies and messy computational entanglements as they interface with QTPOC lifeworlds.
