The little people

We do not see. It's an old story. Thales watched the stars, he fell into a hole. His maid had seen the hole, she was never interested in the stars. We, who are neither scientists nor poets, how much do we know about the world -the one that beats within us and around us, nourished on perfumes, troubled by restless shadows and reflections-? Not much! Only what we need to accomplish our daily tasks, feed our children and take them to school. We do not see. We are blind to the thrill of the stone, the fearful startle of a branch, the flow of a liquid sunshine which are born and flourish, as so many accents in the voices of men. No matter! It is the duty of the photographer, the concern of Jean-Luc Meyssonnier, to direct his lens towards the invisible work of the vegetable and mineral, the silent assumption of an infinitesimal and infinite movement. We are together, and we can not see. Photographs by Jean-Luc Meyssonnier are nothing other than a trace of light fascinated by what dreamer spirits formerly called the little people of fairies and elves.
